As a tribute to the new Pantone of the Year and to beauty in all shades, here are some of our favorite pics from the full spectrum to inspire your designs for 2017.
RED is the color of extremes. It’s the color of passion, love, anger, seduction, violence, danger, and adventure. It is the single most dynamic and passionate color, demanding attention and having a great emotional impact.
ORANGE radiates warmth and happiness, combining the physical energy and stimulation of red with the cheerfulness of yellow. It represents enthusiasm, fascination, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation.
YELLOW, the color of sunshine, hope, and happiness, has conflicting associations. On one hand yellow stands for freshness, happiness, positivity, clarity, energy, optimism, enlightenment, remembrance, intellect, honor, loyalty, and joy, but on the other, it represents cowardice and deceit. Studies show that the color yellow helps activate the memory, encourage communication, enhance vision, build confidence, and stimulate the nervous system.
GREEN, my favorite color, is symbolic of growth, life, the environment and new beginnings. It has healing power and is understood to be the most restful and relaxing color for the human eye to view.
A blend of both blue and green, TURQUOISE is associated with meanings of refreshing, feminine, calming, sophisticated, energy, wisdom, serenity, wholeness, creativity, emotional balance, good luck, spiritual grounding, friendship, love, joy, tranquility, patience, intuition, and loyalty.
BLUE symbolizes creativity, intelligence, loyalty, strength, wisdom and trust. This is a color that seeks peace and tranquility above everything else, promoting both physical and mental relaxation.
PURPLE is the most powerful wavelength of the rainbow. It combines the stability of blue and the energy of red. Through the ages, purple has always been associated with royalty, nobility and prestige. The color purple can symbolize mystery, magic, power and luxury.
WHITE is color at its most pure, the color of perfection. The color meaning of white is innocence, wholeness and completion. It represents new beginnings and is produced when all colors of the visible spectrum are combined.
GRAY is an unemotional color. It is detached, neutral, impartial and indecisive – the fence-sitter. Being both motionless and emotionless, gray is solid and stable, creating a sense of calm and composure, relief from a chaotic world.
Absorbing all of the colors in the visible spectrum, BLACK denotes power, elegance, strength, authority, formality, fear, death, and evil.
